How to make the most of your holiday park stay
A break away in a static caravan, whether your own or one you’re renting for a short break, is a great way to create meaningful memories with your loved ones.
While the perfect holiday park will be equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay, spending time preparing for your trip can ensure that your plans run smoothly without any hiccups!
Here are three tips for making the most of your next static caravan holiday park stay.
Check the weather forecast
Ah, the great British weather. While often unpredictable, it’s important to check the forecast for your stay ahead of time. Consistent rain or scorching temperatures will not only impact the items and clothes you choose to pack, but can also throw a spanner in your plans for each day.
See what weather conditions are predicted for your stay before planning too many of your activities. Forecasted rain doesn’t need to ruin your outdoor activities, but they’ll definitely be more enjoyable if you’ve packed rain coats, umbrellas, and wellies! Similarly, if the temperatures are due to soar during your stay, pack sun cream, hats, and lightweight clothing.

Review the park’s on-site activities and amenities
Many holiday parks offer a range of activities for all the family, such as swimming pools, nature trails, and bicycle rental. These can be a great way to spend your days if you don’t fancy venturing out of the park, but check what times these activities run from and whether there is an additional cost. Lots of parks also offer various evening entertainment options, such as discos, bingo, and quizzes – you should be able to find a schedule for these online, or contact the park to confirm.
As for amenities, double-check what the park has to offer, in case you need to prepare to go without. For example, if the park doesn’t offer laundry facilities, be sure to pack enough clothing to last your entire stay.
Take a look at what dining options are available on site – this may be restaurants, cafes, bars, or communal kitchens, but your static caravan should have kitchen facilities too! If you plan to cook while on site, there may be a shop within the park for easy access to ingredients, but if not, stop off at a shop on your way to the park and prepare for any meals you plan to cook.
Look up local attractions
There are likely plenty of attractions in the local area that may be of interest during your stay, such as beaches and piers, theme parks, zoos, and restaurants. Have a look online, or check for leaflets either in your caravan or at the main check-in desk. You could also ask the park staff or your caravan neighbours for recommendations. Check for any timely events in the local area during your park stay, like food and drink festivals or pop-up fun fairs.
The perfect static caravan holiday
Everyone’s preferences for a holiday are different, and therefore, how you choose to prepare will vary depending on how you intend to enjoy your holiday park stay. Whether you’re planning to spend most of your time relaxing in the caravan with a good book or fill your days with activities, preparation is key.
If you fall in love with your static caravan holiday stay, why not look into purchasing your own? This opens up new opportunities for ad hoc stays and allows you to build familiarity with the park’s local area, enhancing your holiday experience.
If you do purchase a static caravan (or already own one!), be sure to protect it with a static caravan insurance policy.
